Not your run of the mill idle problem! 200 1980

Does your engine have a frequency valve and an oxygen sensor? If so disconnect the sensor at the firewall connection and see if the idle improves. Also check once again for vacuum leaks, especially around the idle air bypass hoses to the auxiliary air valve, and of course the large bellows above the sensor plate.
