Ugly plastic chrome 200

Any ideas about how to improve the appearance of scratched/worn plastic chrome trim? Is there anyway to "rechrome" it? (I found a couple of websites advertising rechroming service. Does this actually work?) Thanks Heidi the Fix-it Mom
