Something wrong: the pan holds only about three quarts +/-. Using a long vinyl tube, siphon out enough fluid to get the dipstick back between "add" and "full". Then warm up the tranny by driving the car for about twenty minutes. Park; set the handbrake; and cycle through all the gears, pausing in each one for about five seconds, ending up in "park", while the engine is still running. Check the fluid level again. Adjust as necessary. The difference between "add" and "full" is only a little bit, so don't dump a lot in or remove a great deal.
