Engine Swap 700 1988

All of the B230FTs will fit. Volvo introduced the K block early in the 1988 model year and upgraded the connecting rods as a running change in the 1989 model year. Piston oil cooling was introduced as a running change in the 1993 model year.

Volvo introduced LH 2.4 Jetronic in the 1990 model year. Almost any engine you will find with the desireable large connecting rods will be LH 2.4. To use an LH 2.4 engine in your car you will need to use the fuel injection from your car. You will need to use the following components from the 1988 engine to do that:

1. Throttle body
2. Distributor
3. Engine wiring harness
4. Idle Air Controller

The later fuel injectors are a different part number, but they work fine. You cany use the original fuel injectors.

I have installed LH 2.4 B230FTs in three different 700 series equipped with LH 2.2.
