Sounds like a fuel starvation issue, more specifically the in-tank fuel pump. Messy and stinky to change, but at least it's cheap (about 50 bucks for the new part). To confirm this, start the car up, remove the fuel cap and put a big screwdriver on the filler neck. Place your ear on the other end of it, and if you don't hear a monotonous buzz, then we have a winner. If you do hear a buzz, then I would suspect a fuel pump relay that needs resoldering.
