*hard shift into first from a stop* 200

Kind of a classic M47 symptom. If you haven't done so in ages, put in a new clutch cable and do the basic adjustment per the book. The cables do stretch over time. The other thing you should do for 'goodness' is to change your trans oil. Red Line MTL is supposedly good juice (but pricey), but I think fresh oil is more important than the specific brand. I change mine yearly, which is about every 25K. Seems to help shiftability.

Lastly, if you normally slip the trans into neutral as you approach a stop, try shifting into progressively lower gears (4-3-2-1) as you slow down (and with the clutch in), but importantly while the car is still moving.
