overdrive 700 1990

I assume automatic. Overdrive is 4th gear.
Overdrive on means light off and car is in 4th gear.
Overdrive off means car is in 3rd gear and light is on.

What does the arrow light do?
What effect does the button have.

Depending on your symptoms the cause may be and most likely is the OD relay. It can be easily repaired by resoldering as per instructions in the 700/900 FAQ section. This cost nothing and takes 15 minutes. Some prefer to just replace it.
