Mark - the easy way to do it - is to take out the entire shaft (marking it carefully first) and then have a machine shop do the hard stuff. If you have jack stands, dropping the shaft as a whole unit is simple and direct. Don't separate the two halves without marking the orientation or you can easily get an out of balance shaft.
U-joints run around $10-12 each and the support bearing $12-15. The support donut is another $15-20. FCP out of groton has great u-joint prices.
On my 89 project wagon, I have the whole shaft out sitting on the floor - did all three joints and the bearing at a local shop - labor $25. I bought the parts at around $35. The labor is well worth the price, as installing the joints is complex. I did one years ago and screwed it up, so today I pay the shop labor!!
There are three different size u-joints - usually the newer 240s have 3" or 3 1/4, but check your size before ordering parts.
