Yes...excellent point.

There should be a little steel tag on one of the bottom cover bolts... it will state the ratio. If its gone (probably most are), you can take the cover off, and the ratio will be stamped on the ring gear itself... it will say something like 41:10 meaning 41 teeth on the ring gear, 10 teeth on the pinion. 41/10=4.10.

The 4.56 gears will say something more like 41:9... 41/9=4.56
