$100 does seem a bit steep but yes to remove the instrument cluster does take some time. Must remove radio (make sure you have the security code), trim piece that extends from the radio area over to center of instrument cluster, left trim piece, switches, lots of wires and plugs then the cluster itself with all it's plugs. It is a bit tricky the first time.
The bulb itself is very easy to replace, it is in a quarter turn socket. I am not sure about this but it may be possible to do it by reaching up behind but you would have to know what your feeling for.
Best to replace all 4 of the lighting bulbs while in there. I keep the brightness control down some to preserve the bulb life. Also make sure headlight switch is off during day. There are a lot of bulbs that can burn out including many in the radio, ECC, all the dash switches, more down at the shifter and in the door power window switches all coming on with the lights.
