HELP!! Overdrive turning on and off!! 1989

Could be a wire near the shifter housing if you are lucky. Or a relay, the switch or solenoid. Just did the wire repair (rubbed a bare patch on teh driveshaft and shorted out) on a 740 wagon - of course I had already purchased the relay and switch - never fails. You can herar solenoid switch on and off (click) when you activate the overdrive switch - does the od light come on?? Start there.
