Correct Alternator wiring 120-130

Yes the diagram is what I have except that instead of having the "sensing " wire going all the way to the "+" of the battery it just jumps straight to the "+" of the alt.( which accually makes more sense as it's shorter and a cleaner install.
As to which wire is which could you tell me how I tell these two wires apart with a meter? On mine there were no markings, just a plug with 2 black wires. I'm a bit weak on how sensing and field wires should respond to my multi meter. I ask only because I'm a hack when it comes to electronics, my system works fine as is, and when I installed it I just tried it both ways (very short duration) and quickly worked out which was which. BTW I live in Montreal which is pretty "branch a foin" (haywire) when it comes to many things.
