The 700/900 FAQs covers engine diagnostics pretty well. Start out here: http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/EngineOBDCodes.htm

On your car you should be able to access the trouble codes pretty easily. Then you can figure out what it wrong, fix it, erase the codes, and I think your light should go out.
