Air Con Cooling Lost on Acceleration......Is This a Pressure Switch ?

Before you pay $900 in any currency check the check valve - the little valve that only allows vacuum to the HVAC.

Wouldn't it seem strange that just because the engine is doing more boost, more rpm, more load - that the belt driven portion of the AC would need major service?
