Ebay's all about making money. What more could there be in this manual than the info you'd find here + Bentley or Haynes? This is an incredible resource for Volvo owners. The info covered here are real-world solutions to typical and not-so-typical problems. There aren't too many "secrets" that Brickboard members haven't covered at some point.
On that subject, I simply can't believe how many people are selling Volvo stuff on Ebay- that's a great thing! It CAN be a good source for parts. HOWEVER--- I also can't believe how many people are trying to sell common items or junk for Volvos on Ebay! These people are just taking advantage of folks who don't do their homework. I see stuff all the time that is OVER DEALER LIST PRICE!!! That's stupid. Never mind that even better deals can be found at FCP Groton, VOlvoworld, OEM Volvo parts etc. There's a guy selling oil cap gaskets for $3. PLUS SHIPPING?? They're A BUCK at the dealer. $1. Why would anyone get this here?
Another regular, constant Ebay Volvo person is someone by the name of Hardworking handyman. I'll give the guy credit- he does pull and sell a TON of Volvo parts. But the prices he expects for his stuff is outrageous. He's always got about 100 auctions going, mostly for junk interior parts and similar items... he's charging OVER dealer list for used stuff, as the starting point of his auction. Hello? Would anyone pay this? Sure, a center console is a hard part to find in good shape- but I can get it new at Volvoworld for $52. Why would I want a used one for $75? Plus shipping and handling and it's probably cracked anyway!
It's just amazing to me what people will try to get away with. All I can say is, do your homework, make a phone call or two to confirm what something's really worth before getting wrapped up in an Ebay auction. Let someone else be the sucker and use the Brickboard to your advantage.
(OK, it's safe now. The rant is over.)
