Maintenance 1800

Another question for you guys: How much work am I looking at to keep an 1800 running?

I'm willing to spend around $4,000-$5,000 on an 1800, preferably a middle year, '64 to '69. I plan to keep driving my 240 wagon back and forth to work and such and take my 1800 (should I get one) out on weekends or just cruising when I'm antsy.

My father say I'm nuts, that it's gonna cost all my money (part time job) and all my time to keep it up and running. I've got the time, and I've got the tools to take care of almost everything that pops up. From what I've read it's a solid, reliable car, even at thirty-some years old.

Anyway, am I deluding myself that all it will take is regular light maintenance or is my father the nut? Can I get an 1800 in good shape for $4k-$5k or am I again, imagining things?

Thanks,
Sean
