Start with reading the on-board diagnostic code. The unit is on the inner fender in front of the driver (in the engine bay). Place the movable pin in in pos 2, then depress the button for 1-3 seconds (I think I am remembering the sequence right) and wait for the flash pattern. That will give teh code representing the component responsible.
