Did you remove the padding under the carpet? Asking because you did not mention doing so, and it's important. The padding has a rubber scrim on the top side that can prevent evaporation of water trapped in the padding itself.
I pulled them from a 240 with a plugged a/c drain, and as soon as the pads were lifted out, the water ran out in a stream. Took days to drain and dry. Used old newspaperw for carpets a couple weeks.
While you are "in there", pull up the galvanized wire channel cover and see how dry that is. The channel tilts downward towards the rear, so use a long rolled up newspaper to stick back under there and see if it comes out wet. If it does, you may want to pull the rear carpet and pads, too. Or at least pop off a trip cover (black piece along bottom of door openeing) and stick a hand under there to check for wetness.
Along the inner side of the rocker panel you should see 2 or 3 plastic plug things. They come out and you can see insode the rocker panel. Have a look, and maybe put a vacuum cleaner nozzle in there. If there's a lot of stuff, you can remove the little panel on which the seat belt lower anchor bolt is mounted, and you'll have a larger access hole for the vacuuum cleaner.
Remember that even if you are working on only the driver's side, the passenger side can have the same issues.
Have a look at the underside of the seat. If the grid is shot, they can be purchased. Be sure all eight springs are in place. If the seat frame is cutting up into the foam pads along the sides, there is a way to get some low napp carpet pieces in there to prevent further damage. BTDT
Good Luck,
Bob
