'88 intermitantly dies while slowing down, why??? 200 1988

I doubt there is a relationship between the two. The temperature flucuation sounds like the classic temperature compensation board problem. The best way to fix that is to remove the board all together. If you can remove the instrument cluster the board removal and jumper install is a snap. and use the images below to remove the compensation board and solder in a jumper.
