OD will work when cold 200

I think Jim has ID'd the problem. When the unit will only engage/stay engaged at higher speeds when hot, it has to be fluid leakage past seals. It depends on the severity, but you may get by with a fluid change. I had a mild case of the symptoms you describe and draining, then refilling with the Redline MTL gave a major improvement, and I've gotten by for 5 yrs and a lot of miles. I've heard it described as "trans in a bottle".

IPD offer a kit of parts to do a minor rebuild of the OD for about $60.
