a/c evaporator and cold start problem 700 1991

Hey folks out in volvo land,
I have to replace the ac evaporator and was wondering what was the best way to get to it. I know from inside the car, but what is the best route to take. Is there anyplace to get decent schematics, books or web site? It's getting really hot in florida.
Then on the first crank of the day, the car revs up and dies. The iac is fairly new, so safe to scratch off list. it seems to help to have no excessories running while starting (radio, blowers, windows...)
