Keep your 700's as long as you can 700

I can't believe how bad the rear main seals are on all the 850, 70,80, series cars. They just shouldn't be so much of a problem. But the track record is poor.
Fortunately the mechanics are getting pretty good at these... there is a nice engine support frame that suspends the engine while you remove the crossmember & lower control arms, then pull the transaxle with a unique adapter bracket on a normal transmission jack.
$20 part, 8-10 hours work.
At least I can be pretty sure that if I ever decide to change one of my leaking rear mains in a red block engine (and a couple of them are a little wet) it has a good chance of lasting 5 years.

Wait till you hear what the guys say about the S80 T6 turbo oil return lines....
Glad I'll never own one.
