my 940 hits 7.5-8 psi easily...but i have a thought for you...

i was reading a interesting article from a guy who had put a free flowing exhaust on a saab 9000...what i found VERY interesting was his comment that his boost guage went DOWN as he got less back presure in the pipe...i.e. with his 'restictive' standard exhaust he was getting abotu 7.5 psi, with the free flow he was gettin 4.5 - 5...he then had to tweek the gate back up...

now I REALLY dont know enough to understand this, but if you think about it the boost is measured by the amount of air presure agaisnt the inlet side of the mill....so less back presure in the pipe means less back presure on the block means a engine that shifts more air (better clearing of the cylinders?)..now this means it SWALLOWS more air so you get less presure on the front of the mill?...im guessing something to do with turbo waste gates not openeing and closing, but rather partly openeing comes into play....

anyways..im a wondering...have you been playing wiht your exhaust...if so less boost on the dial might be expected from what this guy said (and judging by his coverage and excelent pics etc i kinda got the idea he wasnt full of bull!)
