Sunroof Motor/Replace 900

In 740s you remove the cover over the motor and turn the drive shaft with a phillips screwdriver. This tecnique is shown in the owner's manual. I notice that our 850 does not have the same entry.

I hope your car is like a 740. If it is, toss the motor and get a handcrank from a salvage yard. The manual crank is faster and always works.

If you are careful, you can install the motor and use it to move the roof into the closed position. The caveat here is that it will not stop automatically, you must play with the switch to get the roof in the proper closed position. Once the roof is in the closed position, you can remove the motor again and follow the directions below.

The motor stops automatically in each open position and in the closed position.

If you power the motor and it stops, and you can power it in the SAME direction, you have reached one of the open positions. (the first movement in one direction closes the roof, the second opens it in the opposite direction) From that location, power it in reverse ONE movement and the motor is now in the closed position. You can now install it in the closed roof.

If the roof is tilted, it must be "timed", something that I know nothing about.
