Another odometer problem 200

I am fixing the odometer. I have the thing out but have some questions. What is the cable on the upper left? probably the 15000 mile warning. I assume I can just disconnect it. To get to the insides I have to take off the two srews off the front. How does the needle come off? I can see the cracked gear but need this info to get to it. Eric's odometer site is for 86 and newer Volvos. Mine looks very different so it is not much help.
