Springy 'boing' sound when backing up or coming to a stop

What year?

Could be ABS self test leaving the driveway, or ABS activation elsewhere. Or a combination of both at different times. The ABS self-test will create a crunch or 'bong' sound if you listen closely.

If it is not equipped with ABS, I don't know.
