Just something to think about; in my Durango, Camaro, GMC, and Volvo ... all exhibited the same clunk, ... and all were rectified by changing the u-joint.
Note: Another sign of bad u-joints, vehicle vibrates at high speeds when you accelerate, and vibration diminishes when you let off.

Again, just my experiences.
