what material is the MANN check valve made of ? ...

In Iowa, temps get down to minus 25F and I've never had a problem with a leaking antidrainback flapper in Mann filters in over ten years. My nephew has his Volvo in North Dakota at lower temps and has similar experience. Just not an issue. I suspect the silicone valves to be marketing buzz, since silicone in fact does not have the oil resistance of other materials. That's why Volvo doesn't use it for oil seals (they use Viton).
