Disconnect the battery first- the brush/regulator unit pulls right out of the back with 2 screws. Replace it - I think it's about $30. The alternator doesn't even have to come out of the car. NIce and easy on a 7-series.
Any alternator rebuild shop gets $100 for the same job.
