B18 + B18 = B36AV 120-130

The language is Norwegian, and the following is a quick translation of the text, which may make some things clearer:

"Few engines I can think of right now are more clouded in myths and wrong information than Volvos second V-8 (Volvo produced a 22 liter tank engine during the WW 2). The most common claim is that the B36 is two B18 engines welded together or something similar. The truth is that the B36 only has a few parts in the valve train in common with the B18 (and the oil filler cap - a shape that has been on Volvo engines for decades). Incidentally, both bore and stroke are identical, important aspects such as compression and piston rod length (?) are different. Also, the B36 engine's cylinder heads are of the cross-flow type, while the B18 has intake and exhaust at the same side. The B36 is a further development of the B8B motor that sat in the Philip prototype in the 50s. Volvo used the engine in a few light trucks in the 50s and 60s. I bought 2 of these engines that I will renovate. Parts access is especially low, so this will take a long time..."
