Climate control puzzler 700 1991

I've also got a '91 740 but it's a 4 door and a turbo. Had the exact same symptoms. I think I've got the automatic climate control though. Go to the FAQ and search around in the heat/AC section. On my car, there's a vacuum flapper motor that broke (leaks) above the driver's feet. The simple fix is to plug one of the hoses going to it (the one with the yellow end). I found a lot of info on this in the FAQ and it was a lifesaver on our recent trip through Phoenix to LA, we had cold AC in the face the whole trip!
