More current makes the flasher work faster so I'd guess you have a short
in your turn signal somewhere. The amp light doesn't illuminate for things
like that, only when the alternator is not charging.
A bad fuse on the flasher circuit (which also works the amp light) could
perhaps also give you similar symptoms but I doubt it would make it flash
really fast. It could, however, keep your alternator from charging, even if
it was good. (Lack of excitation on startup.)
