I posted last week regarding an OD problem I've been having where the OD would only disengage after a long delay. Since then I've been on a trip and haven't had a chance to work on the car, and in teh interim a new problem has surfaced.
The delay seems to have disappeared for the moment, but in its place the OD light now refuses to work. The OD will still engage and disengage normally (tach drops 500 or so rpms, etc.), but the light shows no activity whatsoever.
Would this still indicate a failure of the solenoid on the transimission? Would a faulty solenoid blow the OD indicator lamp? The OD relay and the fuse check out (fuse isn't blown, relay clicks when OD is activated and deactivated), but I don't hear any activity from the solenoid when I activate it at a standstill. Given I'm in the car when I do it, but I think I should still hear a click if I listen.
Any further thoughts are appreciated. I plan on checking teh solenoid this weekend anyway, but wanted to post to check on these new developments.
BTW, is there any trick to recodnitioning the solenoid or is pretty obvious when I see it?
Thanks,
rt
