'87 740 Turbo - No A/C

Not good news for you. Sounds like you have a leak in the system. Did the shop perform a leak test before charging the system?

I just converted my '87 740 to r134a. It had not worked for more than one year, but I thought to give it a try. I changed the parts and took it to the service shop to get it evacuated and charged. No idea how long it might hold up, but less expensive than r12.

Good luck

Dan
