intermittent turn signals

The turn signals on my '92 960 have been having trouble for the last two days. They will work fine and then stop and then start working again. I have checked all bulbs and connections at the front and rear lamps, everything seems fine, no apparant shorts. I am wondering if the flasher unit is bad. My problem is that I cannot find it. Any help from the group is appreciated.
