Copper washer on head sensors

Since you didn't cite model or year it's pretty hard to say.
On a B20, you should get a new washer for the temp sensor but the
thermal timer is a pipe thread and I would install it with teflon tape.
I would NOT use RTV.
The copper washer should be included in the gasket set.
