i got a bunch of stuff off by using carburetor spray on a rag and wiping. as the person below states, be careful of the electronics.

wd40 is not a degreaser or cleaner or lubricator. WD stands for Water Displacement, and that's what it's good at. get yourself a can of carb spray.
