I wouldn't be surprised to learn that all the 740s had the converter up until the 940 came out, and then all went to a speedometer that processed the higher pulse rate signal. Do you know if the 240 did the same thing or if the speedometer was different? I know something is different about 1993 240 speedometers- I had to order one once and it was specific to the 93. I fixed the old one and still have it in the garage...
