Quite a few of the problems sound like they could be caused by the Strut bar to lower control arm bushings (as someone else has said), these can be bad even though they look ok, it's a known 700 problem, best thing is to replace them with polly replacments as the rubber wears out in a stupidly short time. a lot of my brake problems went away when I did mine, including some of the pull to one side under braking.
I also had a problem with pads that left material build up on the disks, a common problem with 700s when you use non volvo front pads, it can cause some strange feeling and if it gets bad enough makes it feel like you have warped disks, a fix can be to use semi metalic pads, or just get the disks lightly cleaned/ground and go back to volvo original brake pads.
The Bendix calipers on some models can also have their own set of problems, the sliding pin design on them is not great, the pistons are not the problem, the way they slide is, often people rebuild the pistons but don't do the pins, meaning the original problem is still there.
I found also that a high temp anti seize compound (it's got like copper powder, some zinc oxide and graphite in it) works far better than regular brake grease on the pins, that alone on my car made a suprising diffrence, so much so that I've yet to replace the pins, even though I have a set sitting on the shelf.
