Acceleration Problem 1990 740GL Automatic

Everytime I accelerate fast, or somewhat fast, I get a hesitation in the engine and It starts to sputter. But if I let off the gas, it shifts into the next gear and runs fine. As long as I accelerate slow, it shifts with no problem.

Any Ideas?
