I found it! It's just what I thought: The tops of those old coolant expansion tanks (at least the ones in the 164) are shaped just like the tops of domestic car radiators. You can go to any auto parts store and buy a 11 - 13psi "lev-r-vent" cap; it fits perfectly on the Volvo coolant bottle.
