My only concern is the longevity of this product under high-heat/oil/solvent conditions in the engine bay. It is solvent based, with some plasticizers, and over time heat may cause embrittlement, exactly the problem you're trying to solve. Oil may also dissolve it. As a medium term solution, it sounds great, but I don't think it would be permanent. Keep us posted as to how you make out with this.
