Check Engine light/not starting up 200

"Lately, when I turn the key to shut the engine light off, the battery light illuminates, which gives me the impression that perhaps either the battery of the alternator is going."

That's perfectly normal. That light should be ON whenever the Key is ON and the engine isn't turning.

I'd suggest you browse the 700/900 FAQ for engine trouble-shooting hints (same B230f engine), and also look up the procedure for reading OBD (On Board Diagnostic) codes. This version of OBD is considered "primitive", but may give you a clue.

Also test the AMM (Air Mass Meter) the next time it dies on you. Disconnect the AMM harness plug and try to start it. If it starts and idles OK, the AMM is probably on its way out.
