87 240 Cold Start Problem 200 1987

"Should I continue running cleaner through the system?"
Can't say. I have no experience with Jectron (?). But I have seen Techron specified in Volvo scheduled maintenance procedures, and it has a good reputation in general.

The "deposits" theory is just a theory, but I got it from a long-time Volvo specialist. And it seems plausible. This problem always seems to come on as the weather starts to get cooler. Seldom a summer complaint.

" What sensor could the problem be?

Coolant temp? — Maybe the Engine Coolant Temp (ECT) sensor for the FI system (not the one for the temp gauge). It's not easy to access though. For details, look in the 700/900 FAQ (Pull-down FEATURES menu at top of page)

thermo-time? — No, I don't think you have one on LH 2.2

AMM? — Possible, but not high on the list

cold-start valve? — not if it fires right up. You have a cold running problem, not cold "start".

Sorry I can't be more help.
