where to start looking for this problem before i'm broke 700 1992

Good evening.

How can i check for some faulty parts?

AMM?
The t-stat in the airbox?
I'm trying to figure out why my car rpms is high at times. Check my post "SURGING RPMS HELP"
Don't want to spend alopt of money trying to figure out this problem.
Can i clean up my IAC or replace it?

I will figure this out this weekend.
