Wow. Seems strange that the gear would wear like that.

I wonder - does ipd make the gear for the rounded or square teeth? Or both?

If you end up in the market for a steel adjustable gear, talk to Dale (245gti) on Turbobricks (Info here.) He modifies steel gears with the proper offsets for the cam alignment pin in a variety of configurations. I have one of his, allows for +/- 6* in 2* increments.
