Ok, new running problem 700 1989

"What's that little box inside the left fender?"
If you mean the one shown in the pic below, it`s the power stage, aka. ignition amplifier.
It can overheat, causing failure under high temp conditions, check for corrosion between power stage and heat sink, and heat sink to fender, preventing heat transfer.

P.S. This assumes you have a Bosch, rather than a Rex-Regina system.
