what would you have done? 200

First, I'm pretty vocal about this.. I think eBay is a scam. It's convenient, but that's about it. You might as well pay with cash. You really don't have any additional rights.

Especially when dealing with the Volvo owners community, I like to deal directly with the seller. Someone's reputation precedes them, and as such it's usually pretty easy to get an idea of how reliable the person in question is. Many of the people I've bought stuff from (like Skip) sell stuff on eBay as well. If I see something I want that's up for auction, I'll usually wait until the auction is over and then buy it. The worst problem I had was with the USPS taking about a month to ship something from NY to CA. And in that time, Skip didn't cash the check.

Anyways, I think that you should have attempted to return the grille (and made sure the seller paid shipping). But by not even doing that, IMO, you've lost your right to complain or justification to leave negative feedback.
