thanks for your post. I went inside and looks at the contacts and bent them slightly to make better contact and now it works. One ineresting thing. I bought new batteries - what size batteries? - the same as what was in there, of course.I didn't check the manual first. I bought CR1216 and then I noticed the manu says use CR1220. Well, next time I am in radio Shack, I'll pick up the right size. It has had the wrong size in there for years.
