Alternator Swap 140-160

I just did the "one wire" swap this summer & found it to be an excellent solution to the problem. [I suggest the 63 amp size] Since my lower bolt had just broken off I drilled it out to 10 mm bolt size[a better fit than the 3/8ths used by GM]. I then cut about 1/2inch off the aluminum front housing at the back of the lower mounting tab. You can use a cut offwheel & cut a little off at a time to test for fit. Be sure to cut perpendicular to the bolt hole & test for pulley line-up with the pulley on. I ended up using the Bosch pulley on the Delco alt. If you have the Delco fail at some time in the future you can swap the modified housing onto the replacement with just four bolts. You should also be sure to check the tightness of those same four bolts on the "new alt" [there's a reason I know this]! Happy electrons.
